Learning and Growing at CAPACares

At CAPACares, we care about helping children and families today, and also about training the helpers of tomorrow. That’s why we welcome students from social work, counseling, and marriage and family therapy programs to join us as interns.

Our interns work side by side with our staff to support families, while also learning the skills they need to become strong and confident professionals. Each intern has an on-site supervisor and receives guidance and mentorship from staff throughout their time here.

To make sure interns are ready for real-world work, we also offer regular trainings on important topics like play therapy, suicide prevention, domestic violence, and case planning. This mix of learning and practice helps interns build confidence and discover their own strengths.

Here’s what some of our interns have shared about their time at CAPACares:

“My experience at CAPACares has been amazing. The hands-on opportunities and support I have been given have helped me so much. This internship has truly shaped my future in a positive way!”
– Social work intern

“CAPACares has been everything and more. I’ve had many meaningful experiences, and the chance to work with the diverse families in our community has been incredible.”
– Marriage and family therapy intern

“I love being at CAPACares. The support here fuels my passion to become the best therapist I can be. It’s an honor to intern somewhere you feel appreciated and believed in!”
– Counseling intern

“I have been amazed at how supportive CAPACares is. One staff member even stayed late one evening just to do a practice phone call with me before I called my first client. That meant so much.”
– Intern

These stories show how much interns grow while they are with us—and how much they give back, too. We are proud to invest in the next generation of helpers and healers, and we are grateful for the impact they are already making in the lives of children and families today.
